I make pretty pictures!
This weekend I went to my oldest friends' wedding. I met her in first grade at the age of 5. I moved shortly after 1st grade but we have stayed in touch through letters, trips, phone calls and more recently, e-mail, for the last 19 years. I took this photo of her with my new Nikon D70, the world's most awesome camera! Then I edited it in Photoshop. I figured out how to do that neato thing where the flowers show up red but the picture looks black and white!

Update: I edited the photo some more. The colors are a little more vivid now...

That is very cool! I'm gonna have to learn photoshop... seems like I'm the only person in the world who doesn't know how to use it anymore...

Thanks! Yeah, PhotoShop rocks! I had to learn to use it for school (advertising major). I was also able to buy a student version for about 1/3 the cost of retail...PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Acrobat for $369. Pricey but not bad for that software.

I disagree with you on the price of photoshop...

Just kidding! Had to keep the theme of the day up. :)

Hmmm...I might have to keep you in mind for my wedding. That's probably a year or so from now though. I love the black & white with color thing. Of course, I do it the old fashioned way with photos copied onto paper, colored with pastels.

I actually have a kit for that...there's this liquid you put on the actual photo and then you color whatever you want...I just stumbled on the technique in PhotoShop!

So who are you Anonymous?? Is that you Lori?? Or someone else?

That's Lori... Blogger is frustrating in that you have to sign up just to post a comment...

And, thus the campaign to move Ty to Typepad (Ty...TYpepad) begins....

Actually that comment wasn't me. Probably Aly.

That picture is SO gorgeous. I love the color effect. Something tells me that girl couldn't take a bad picture if she tried though...what a beautiful girl.

About Typepad, after my money situation settles down, from buying my house, I will start looking into Typepad--promise!! Can I get my dishwasher installed first though??? ;-)

As for the bride, yeah she is so photogenic! Growing up she was always referred to as "Cute." But lately she has truly become stunning. She looked amazing at the wedding! And get this, her dress which had a three foot train and this gorgeous V-shaped back was only $175...She is the best shopper EVER!!!! I will try to post a pick of the back. I have a good one.

Oh and about Ali's post, I wish my side career was wedding photography! I think that would be awesome! I love taking photos at weddings. I wonder though if the reason I can get such good pics is because I know the cast of characters and what makes them attractive. You know, I know when to shoot because I know their personalities. But maybe not, because I didn't know a lot of people at this last wedding.

Anywho, I made a CD slideshow for one of my friends weddings. I was in it so I had all these behind the scenes pics that the photographer didn't have. And I got some AWESOME shots. Another beautiful bride so it was easy! She actually told me at one point that some of my pictures were better than the professional photographers!! That was the best compliment.

That was me on the post!

Sorry, I didn't sign it. Don't tell GS I'm searching for photographers! Everytime I mention nuptials or rings, he adds a week to my wait time. (And I don't even know what date he started counting from!)

Hello,
I am a complete stranger and random - but just wanted to firstly comment on how stunning your friend looks on her wedding day, and secondly ask - do you know who designed her dress or where she shopped for it?!! I'm planning a wedding and finding it really difficult to find my perfect dress.
Thanks!

She did look beautiful. I don't know the designer, but I do know she got it at a consignment shop! She is my SUPER-Shopper friend! She could find a deal anywhere! lol...The wedding was a couple years ago, so I would say the dress is probably a three year old design. I wish I had better information for you. Have you thought about having one made? I have heard of people taking pictures of dresses they loved to a tailor, and the tailor will duplicate the dress...

Good Luck! And Congratulations!

Hey thanks for that! Consignment shop? Im in the UK and either we don't have those here, have another name for them, or maybe I'm just dumb and have never heard of them. But I'll look on google and see what you mean! Thanks for your help. I did think of having one made actually. Cunning plan. Only worrying thing is it might look stunning on her and rubbish on me and I won't be able to try it on first! Tee hee. Thanks again :) Melody
